Have you ever mistaken Neon Pothos for Lemon Lime Philodendron or otherwise? I'm pretty sure most of you find it hard to identify these two plants, especially if you're a beginner gardener.

Both Lemon Lime Philodendron and Neon Pothos are perfect houseplants to add to your indoor space. Their bright leaves are truly eye-catching. So, what are the main differences between these two plants? I will share some thoughts with you here that might help you. 

  • Characteristics

    At first sight, these two plants look similar. But just look at them more closely. They're not the same. 

    • Leaf Shape & Size

    The leaves of Lemon Lime Philodendron are bright, heart-shaped, and lime green to golden yellow in color. Instead, Neon Photos has flatter and longer leaves that are slightly smaller than Lemon Lime. 

    • Foliage Color

    Neon Photos has a striking neon green in color that catch the eye. It adds a pop of color that fits well in a modern room. On the other hand, Lemon Lime Philodendron presents a stunning appearance with its bright lime green and a minor pink, brown tint.  

    • Height

    Typically, Lemon Lime Philodendron grows taller than Neon Photos, at around 30” or more. That's why Photos is a perfect choice if you have a small area.

    Here's the difference, Neon pothos can grow in streams of vines that gracefully cascade down over the pot. Instead, with its aerial roots, the lemon lime philodendron can climb up to 60 cm in all directions.

    • Light Needs

    Both are easy to care for, but neon pothos are more flexible and can grow and thrive in a wide range of light conditions. A Lemon Lime Philodendron can become leggy if it receives too little light. 

    • Humidity & Temperature

    Neon pothos prefer warmer rooms, including slightly cooler conditions. While philodendron needs consistent warm conditions. In addition, both plants grow well in highly humid environments. 
     

  • Toxicity

    Both of these plants are classified as toxic to pets and humans as they contain calcium oxalate crystals. If ingested, they may cause minor irritation or stomach discomfort. 

Conclusion

In the end, I think both plants are absolutely lovely in their own way. These two plants can be a perfect addition to any indoor space. They also require low maintenance.
